Viral metagenomics

Next-generation sequencing has raised virological studies to a new level. Viral metagenomics (viromics) reveal important information on the genetic diversity of a viral community, without the need for isolating and cultivating viral species. We sequencing the viral metagenome and employ dedicated bioinformatic tools for viral profiling to provide:

• Viral genes and contigs (possibly whole genomes) in environmental metagenomes
• Cleaning of viral metagenomes of contaminating host DNA
• Taxonomic annotation
• Matches between viral metagenomes and host (meta)genomes
• Viral distribution patterns in relation to environmental or clinical conditions
